Yesterday we attended the Canine Performance Association of Tasmania Trick Trial held at Exeter πŸ’œ
I had no expectations going into the trial just so happy to be back out competing doing tricks and having fun with my best friend 🫢🏼
Lottie had an absolute ball in the morning trial she was so excited to be back in the trick ring and was acting like a 2 year old not a 10 year old πŸ«£πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚
It took every fibre of my being not to burst out laughing 🀭 Lottie was able to regain her composure to complete all 8 tricks and gained a pass in both the AM and PM trials. So very proud of Lottie she gives her πŸ’― in everything she does 🫢🏼
Results as follows…..
AM Trial under Sue Cordwell (VIC) - Trick Dog Intermediate (Pass)
PM Trial under Lani Smith (TAS) - Trick Dog Intermediate (Pass)
Lottie now has 3 passes towards her Trick Dog Intermediate Title (TK.I) only needing 3 more passes πŸ™πŸΌ

AUG 30 2025

Vedder was 1/2. She ran a beautiful Novice PAD (these classes feel rarer than hens teeth, I think the last one we ran was in 2020) for a qualifying score.
She was a little distracted in Intermediate JWW so alas our hunt for that Q continues, as we timed out LOL.
Vedder - slow and steady doesn’t always win the race 🀣

Mako struggled a bit with focus in the new environment, but baby dog things (and limited experience things) and went 0/3 today. But she improved each run, so I am happy with her.

I’m also really proud of myself. There was a time, not too long ago, that the wheels coming off of Mako’s Novice PAD run (she jumps 24” regular) would’ve totally gotten to me and ruined my run with Vedder (running same class, 16” Veteran). I bounced back well from her goofiness and managed to be the handler that Vedder needed (who actually did run the exact plan I had for Mako).
Both girls have completely different running styles and are therefore different in how I handle them.
Some positives from Mako. She got the distance portion of the PAD with ease. She bounced back from bailing off the dog walk well with no hesitation. She finally realized that those vertical sticks were in fact weave poles and attempted them in her final run. She called off a nearly off course and came back to me. She did not go visit ring crew in her last class.
Positives for Vedder, despite the bobble on the weaves and a bit of a detour, she came back and worked well with me in JWW. She got her distance portion with ease and had no issues on the teeter. She worked really well in an outdoor ring which I have avoided like the plague for the past several years until Mako made me brave enough to try again 🀣
Anyways - thanks to the awesome K-W club, their volunteers, the venue host and the judge Sherrie Gourlie for some lovely courses!

Weimaraner Association of Canada National Specialty today. AUG 23,2025

MAKO, VEDDER'S daughter

Select Bitch (5 points), and Best Pointing Dog in Specialty at the Weimaraner Association of Canada National Specialty today.

Very proud of the heathen considering this was really the only time she’s been handled by someone other than myself. She went in one time with Nancy at 6 months in the brood bitch class when I had Vedder.

I elected to spin around the ring with my old lady Vedder. She got Best Veteran Female.

VEDDER ,BEST VETERAN FEMALE !!!

Lottie’s Ruffwear Backpack arrived in the mail today 🫢🏼 So excited to start using it on our adventure walks 🐾
Getting her used to wearing it empty and then gradually adding weight to it.
We are officially in training for her Novice Working Pack Dog Title πŸ’œ
Looking forward to this sport coming to Tassie in the not too distant future 🀩
